Mila has tooth #2!

A second tooth broke through at 4.5 months right next to the first on the bottom. She loves running her tongue over it. But didn't want to show it for a picture...

Time to head back to Tempe...

On Friday we loaded up the Subaru (and I mean loaded, every square inch was full!) and headed back home with a quick stop in Desert Hot Springs to visit with Great Grandma Chana. Mila was all smiles and Jacob had so much fun playing airplane and fix-the-walker with Chana.

The drive home was horrible (4+ hour of Mila crying/fussing), but we are glad we got to spend some quality time with Chana. Definitely no long car rides in store for us in the near future.

Grammy with the Tempe Grandkids at the Aquarium

We took Jacob & Mila to the aquarium on Thursday before heading back to Tempe. Jacob didn't want to leave! He loves the watershed exhibit and the eels; each time we go we find new things we didn't see the time before. Thanks Grammy for spending the day with us.

Mila's 1st Tooth!!!

Yes it is a bit early, but at 3 1/2 months old Mila got her first tooth. The bottom right inciser popped through a month ago to our great surprise. She doesn't seem too bothered by it, but is definitely drooling up a storm and loves to feel it with her tongue (as she is doing in this picture). The left front inciser is about ready to come up too, but hasn't broken through yet; and the top left inciser has a few dots showing, but hasn't fully emerged either. And no, this isn't affecting nursing, luckily she isn't a biter :)

Downtime in the condo

We can't thank Auntie Sarah enough for letting us stay in her apartment with her for 2 weeks. 2 extra adults and 2 kids under 5 is a lot for a small one bedroom apartment, but we had a great time! Hopefully her neighbors aren't too upset with her; though Jacob & Mila were very well behaved for young kids (if I do say so myself).

Let's try plastic skating...

So ever since Jacob tried ice skating here in Tempe, he's wanted to try it in Mammoth too. But unfortunately Mammoth had to dismantle their ice rink. However, one of the businessmen in town erected a plastic rink in the parking lot of their restaurant. So we decided to give it a try one Saturday when we weren't skiing. I have to say I'm not a big fan, and perhaps that is because it wasn't installed correctly and they don't seem to maintain it well either. But anyway, Jacob & I can say we've skated on plastic now. We at least had a pretty good time trying it out.

luckily there was a little house for Mila to hang out in...she isn't a big fan of the cold.

isn't auntie sarah pretty :)

To the Top of the Sierras!

Jacob, Daddy, & Mila in the gondola on the way to the top - 11,000 ft!

Mila was very exhausted by the time we got to the top, so we were lucky to get any pictures with her in a good mood. So on the way down it was mid-morning snack and naptime!

Skiing from the top of Chair 14

Last Thursday Jacob was lucky enough to have 4 people to ski with him - Mama, Auntie Sarah, Megan (Mama & Sarah's friend from high school), and Erica (Sarah's friend from Mammoth). Jacob was in heaven being able to ski with all these adults! We took him up Chair 14 and he skiied all the way down, going on some pretty tough runs. But he didn't get scared, just kept on going. One of the runs we took him down, Arriba, was pretty steep and there were a lot of people going down the run very fast. But he kept doing his turns and only fell once...because Auntie Sarah stopped him in the middle of the run to take a picture :) When we got back to the lodge Jacob wanted to take Daddy up to the top to show him where he skiied, so he went down again.

Here are some pics from the 2nd time down with Daddy

Let the skiing begin!

This year was a bit different as we had Mila to take care of in addition to skiing, so either Mama, Daddy, or Sarah stayed in the lodge at the slopes taking care of her while the others skiied on their own or with Jacob. We were so thankful for all Sarah's help during the 2 weeks! And for letting us stay with her at her condo!

Jacob picked up skiing where he left off last season, and was off the straps by day 3! And after nearly 2 weeks of skiing he was able to ski down any blue run and even a few blue/blacks and one black diamond. We are so proud of him and had a great time skiing with him. For those of you familiar with Mammoth, his favorite run was off of chair 12 - White Bark Ridge. He loved going off the jumps at the top. We have a few videos of him going down the run and the jumps. Will hopefully get them uploaded soon.

Mila with her season pass - just 3 years and she'll be joining her brother on the slopes!

Heading up to Mammoth

Our drive up to Mammoth went OK, except for the 3 hours Mila was fussing or crying and the 8 hours total it took us to get there. But despite all that and a crazy snowstorm we made it safely and were excited for the skiing adventures to begin!
