First Poo Poo on the potty!

Jacob surprised us last night with his first poo poo on the potty. He's been increasing the number of times he pees in the potty lately, but last night he ran to get us in the kitchen and said "mama and daddy, poo poo in potty." He was so excited and proud of himself. Hopefully there will be more success to follow.

Look what I did!

Jacob's 1st Day of Preschool

This semester Jacob starts preschool at the Child Study Lab at ASU. It is a parent/toddler class, so mama and Jacob will go together once a week for an hour and a half. This week he got to meet his teacher Miss Beth, whom he felt very comfortable with. The classroom was set up with different centers (pretend, reading, building, painting, playdough, etc). We like their philosophy of child centered learning emphasizing love and patience. Since Grandma & Papa were in town they came along to check out the classroom. With their extensive backgrounds in psychology and education, it was wonderful getting their seal of approval :)

Here are some pictures from the day. Thank you Papa Chuck for capturing these memories since Mama didn't even think to bring her camera.

Happy Birthday Papa Chuck!!

This past Wednesday we celebrated Papa's birthday!! Papa & Grandma came to Tempe this week to help watch Jacob while Mama was in school. Thank you so much Papa & Grandma for taking such great care of Jacob so Mama can work towards her masters in nursing.

Jacob had a great time bringing Papa his gifts (tools for the pizza oven) and helping to blow out the birthday candles.

Happy Birthday Grandma Tilla!!!

A bit behind on my blogging...

Last week we celebrated grandma Tilla's birthday in Pine with Papa, Aunt Tracy, & Cousin Jared. Here are some pictures of the trip. It was wonderful spending time with family & getting out of the valley heat!

Sunday night water coloring...Jacob loves painting his body now, then it progressed to painting all of our legs and toes as well.

Afternoon art project

Jacob decorated his stool this afternoon with watercolors & fingerpaints. He had a great time painting the stool for about 5-10 minutes, then proceeded to paint his body. I guess it isn't too surprising seeing as though one of his favorite books is "Ain't Gonna Paint no More." If you haven't read the book, it is basically about a little boy that paints his body from head to toe.

Drill Boy

Jacob is all ready to assist Daddy in putting the feet on the learning tower, complete with safety goggles & C-clamp.

What do you think Grandpa Ward, "how's my technique?"

"where do I drill Daddy?"

"this thing is heavy!"

A little freaked out by the sound of the drill...he liked it better without the battery attached.

Daytrip to Pine

On Sunday we drove up to visit with Grandma and Papa (and sparky too) in Pine. The weather was so much cooler than the valley, especially after a monsoon rolled through. Grandma & Papa's house is almost done & is so beautiful!!! Not too much longer till they get to move in.

Here are some pictures from the day.

Jacob's 1st Haircut!!!

Well, we thought we'd wait till he was 3, but his hair was getting so long and tangled we decided to take the plunge. So this afternoon we took Jacob to Snip-Its in Chandler. It only took Casey less than 3 minutes to give his curly locks a trim, and Jacob was an absolute angel through the whole thing (the tv probably helped). I think the process was harder on mama and daddy, but it was definitely time.

Here's a link to the video of the event

Here are some pics from the afternoon

One last wash and conditioner before heading out (so that the saved strands are nice and clean)

Ok, this isn't so bad.

mmm...they even give me an animal cracker, definitely worth it!

Not quite sure what just happened...
